The 400mm f/8.0 Mirror Lens from Kenko may sound like it is just another super telephoto lens, but unlike most others it is just over three inches long and weighs less than a pound. This makes it far more convenient to use in fast-paced scenes--such as birding, wildlife, or sports--because it does not require a cumbersome tripod to hold it up.
However, like other super telephoto lenses, it is still recommended that you either brace the camera, increase the ISO sensitivity, or turn up the shutter speed in order to prevent "camera shake" that still affects these long focal length lenses. If you simply remember to treat this compact and lightweight lens like the much larger and heavier competitors, this lens can be much easier to carry around and use for extended periods of time, while still getting the outstanding zoom and performance of a super telephoto lens.
- Compact super telephoto lens combines silver deposition mirrors with pure optical lenses
- Full-frame focal distance is 400mm, however it becomes 600mm on an APS-C size camera, and 800mm when attached to micro-3/4" cameras
- Compatible with many camera mounts, via the T-mount adapter (sold separately), including Nikon, EOS, Alpha, Pentax, Sony NEX, and Micro Four Thirds
- Colors specifically chosen to complement various camera bodies: black for Nikon F, Canon EF, Pentax K and Sony Alpha cameras, Titanium to fit the Sony E, and White for Micro Four Thirds
